University Housing

To make the most of a student’s first year, ASU freshmen live in residence halls on campus. Research has shown that students living on campus are more fully involved in the university community, make stronger connections, stay on track and succeed at higher rates. Residential students have access to academic support services and other student resources right where they live. This not only eases the transition to university from high school, but also positively contributes to personal and academic success.

Residential colleges offer programs and services integral to a student’s academic major, as well as resources and opportunities for social, cultural and personal development. Specific first-year programming also exists in residential communities for those students not living in a residential college. These communities are designed with a broad range of academic interests and majors in mind.

The Tempe campus provides four residential neighborhoods, offering the opportunity for each student to meet and interact with a wide group of individuals.

The Downtown Phoenix campus features Taylor Place, a premier residential community located in the heart of downtown. Opened in 2008, Taylor Place is an important addition to the urban vibe of downtown Phoenix and is a vital component of the university experience.

The Polytechnic campus offers a variety of unique housing for students. Freshman housing meets the needs of first-time students as they transition into university life.

The West campus Las Casas Residence Hall offers students an apartment-style living space in close proximity to many amenities and resources that will complement their academic choices.

Off-Campus and Commuter Student Services

The Center for Off-Campus and Commuter Student Services (OCCSS) provides programs and services to meet the needs of off-campus and commuter students in developing independent life skills, being responsible community members and making connections with the ASU campus community to successfully reach their academic goals. OCCSS, through Off-Campus Housing Availability and Services, assists students in locating housing and/or roommates that meet their individual needs. The Be a Good Neighbor program works with landlords, apartment communities, city officials, the university and community members to encourage a positive community spirit.
